MoQito is a refreshing and sparkling take on the non-alcoholic cocktails that uses mosquitos as the primary and unique ingredient.

I was tasked with designing a food product that uses insects as the primary ingredient. For the packaging, I turned to eco-friendly materials and a design that represented the insect's biomimicry in some shape or form.

RESEARCH
RESEARCH

MoQito (moh-kee-toe) comes from the name mosquito and mojito. For a drink product, it was important for me to not make the insect too distinct as it could appear unappetizing and deter people from the drink. I created a moodboard that best reflected a refreshing, summer drink that people would feel inclined to pick up at the store.

FINAL DESIGN

The product name is a combination of mosquito and mojito to make MoQito. The logo is kept simple and straight forward, without hiding the insect ingredient. The color palette was selected to reflect a refreshing tropical summer drink, paired with nature and earthy tones. The colors were mostly inspired by colorful sparkling water and the joys of summer time.

PACKAGING PROTOTYPE

For packaging, I wanted to make my product very easily distinguishable amongst other competitive beverage brands. I used colorful images and illustrations that would match the flavor of the drinks to captivate customer's attention.
